Academic City University College, in collaboration with Letshego and Multimedia Group, hosted a two-day Fintech for Inclusion Summit aimed at promoting financial inclusion. This event focused on the emerging challenges and opportunities in the fintech and digital economy sectors.

Themed “Fintech Fusion: Bridging Borders, Empowering Inclusion,” the summit brought together a diverse group of stakeholders—including industry professionals, regulators, academics, and students—to explore innovative solutions for economic empowerment, social mobility, and sustainable growth within the FinTech sector.

The conference also showcased how financial technology is expanding access to services and reshaping economies across Africa.

Prof. Fred McBagonluri, President of Academic City speaking at the conference highlighted the vast opportunities FinTech offers. He noted that the fintech space is where innovation meets finance, stating, “As we gather here today, we stand at the frontier of a financial revolution driven by technology, one that is reshaping how businesses, individuals, and economies interact with money.”

He further explained that technologies like blockchain and AI-driven tools are making financial services smarter, more accessible, and inclusive.

Mr. Daniel Agyei Nyarko, a representative from the Bank of Ghana, emphasized the central bank’s regulatory efforts, including the 2019 Payment Systems and Services Act and the establishment of a dedicated FinTech office in 2020, which have helped Ghana’s thriving FinTech ecosystem flourish.

He remarked, “Ghana’s FinTech sector is a remarkable example of how innovation can drive financial inclusion and economic growth. With 22.8 million active mobile money users and a steady 12% annual growth, the digital financial landscape is rapidly transforming lives across the nation.
